Coach Benny Distefano’s 17th Annual Holiday Baseball Camp will be held Monday, December 26, and Tuesday, December 27, 2022. This is a great opportunity for baseball players from Little League through High School to hone their skills and prepare for spring baseball and softball tryouts and upcoming seasons. The enrollment is limited each year to keep a low player/instructor ratio which translates to quality instruction and attention to each camper.

There is an emphasis on skills development while always striving to make the experience fun for the kids.

Hitting: Our goal is to build a solid foundation of good mechanics. We do this by evaluating each camper’s swing, performing drill work, and teaching the mental aspect of hitting.

Base Running: Often overlooked in youth baseball, we introduce various skills and concepts to make each player more effective in running the bases. Leading off, rounding bases, stealing, and sliding are all covered.

Fielding: We teach the fundamentals of infield and outfield play. As in hitting, a solid foundation of good mechanics is important: proper footwork and moving to the ball, glove position, throwing techniques, and anticipating defensive situations.

Pitching: A big emphasis here is arm safety. Proper technique can help prevent arm injuries. Aspects focused on include proper grip, arm action, and overall mechanics.

Catching: Performing well as a catcher requires a specialized set of skills. Out campers will improve their skills receiving pitches, blocking, throwing, and other catching techniques ranging from basic to advanced.

Ages:

6 – 12 year-olds will be grouped on smaller fields, 13-18 year-olds will be on the larger field

Times:

Monday, Dec 26th, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Lunch provided)

Tuesday, Dec 27th, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Lunch provided)

Camp Format:

Enrollment typically includes 65 players. Separate stations for each activity, which allows time for developing the specific position. At the end of the second day, the players have the opportunity to show off what they have learned during a scrimmage. We have at least 5 professional instructors, each of which is either a professional major league scout or a professional minor league coach for a major league organization. Parents are always welcome to observe quietly from the bleachers.
